Most people don't know what good looks like until something better becomes normalSWYFTEE is a platform which uses a simple founding idea to create a much broader offering focused on two key deliverables for participants - reduce friction and enhance visibility. It was built and proven in market. Further development was then deliberately held back until the technology environment caught up with the architectural vision. What follows explains where it started, where it is going, and why the timing is now right. We are passionate about sharing our vision, but don't take ourselves too seriously, so have brought in two enthusiastic podcast hosts to describe the platform. We hope you find this short introduction to SWYFTEE of interest.
About Us

Why NowAround one million young people in the United Kingdom are currently not in employment, education, or training. The number has risen substantially since 2021.The hiring process they are forced to navigate was built for permanent roles. SWYFTEE does not compete with permanent employment - it complements it, and in doing so often opens the door to longer-term relationships that neither party would otherwise have found. At the same time, many businesses in hospitality, tourism, retail, logistics, and care are reducing their permanent headcount in response to the rising cost of full-time employment, while simultaneously struggling to find flexible help at short notice. And the societal challenge isn't just for those entering the workforce for the first time. At the other end of the population, more than a quarter of those aged between 50 and 64 are economically inactive: not in employment and not actively seeking or unavailable to start work. And there is another more critical hurdle for business. Currently the obligation to check a person's right to work has attached to employment. From October 2026 it reaches further - to agency workers, to individual subcontractors, to casual and zero-hours workers. Precisely the groups that SWYFTEE was designed for.Technology continues to compress the entry-level roles that have historically provided a first foothold - and the pace of that compression is accelerating. Each industrial transition eventually creates new categories of work, but the gap between displacement and opportunity falls hardest on those with the least experience and therefore the least leverage in a conventional hiring process. Two hundred CVs sent. No response. Not because the applicant is without merit. Because the system was not built for introductions at this level of scale and speed.SWYFTEE was.
What SWYFTEE isWE are all familiar with this situation.A business (the "Client") suddenly short-staffed with no time to fix it. An individual (the "Worker") with a few hours free and no obvious way to turn that into income. Two problems that exist within miles of each other, at exactly the same moment - and no straightforward way to connect them.SWYFTEE was built to solve that. It is a two-sided digital platform where businesses and individuals post short-notice work opportunities, and nearby people who have indicated that they are available to work can see them and choose whether to apply - right now, in real time, without agencies, without payroll complexity, and without anyone taking a cut of what changes hands. The relationship is direct between the two parties and more importantly for each, what the Client pays is what the Worker earns. The process is immediate. And the model is deliberately simple - because simplicity is what makes speed possible.

Why This MattersShort-notice labour is one of the most inefficient markets in existenceA restaurant loses half its front-of-house team on a Friday afternoon. A homeowner needs help urgently. An event overruns its staffing. In every case, the options are the same - expensive agencies that take hours and charge a premium, personal networks that may or may not deliver, or simply managing without.Meanwhile, within a mile or two, there are people with exactly the availability needed who simply have no way of knowing the opportunity exists.SWYFTEE closes that gap. It makes the opportunity visible and the outcome straightforward - for both sides.
Built for EveryoneFor Clients who need help at short notice, Swyftee removes the process that makes casual hiring disproportionately complicated. For both sides it is reduced to: Post - Apply - Select - Work - Pay - RateFor Workers - particularly those who are new to the labour market, returning after a break, or simply looking for a way to earn flexibly around other commitments - Swyftee removes the barrier that has always made entry the hardest part.No lengthy application process. No CV disappearing into a pile of hundreds. No waiting weeks for a callback that never comes. A profile that reflects who you are and what you can do. Roles posted nearby that you can apply for immediately. A rating that builds with every engagement and travels with you.The platform does not guarantee work. It guarantees that the opportunity to find it is no longer buried under a process designed for a different era.Workers on the platform can build their profile progressively - adding experience, certifications, and verified credentials over time. Those who invest in their presence on the platform are rewarded with greater visibility and earlier access to new roles through an enhanced tier available by subscription, and a preferred tier earned through consistent performance and verified credentials. The system recognises reliability and rewards it.

The PlatformSWYFTEE operates as a pure introducer. It does not employ workers, process payments, or take commission. It simply creates the visibility. The Client always makes the hiring decision and sets the compensation. The Client posts what they need - the role, the location, the timing, the rate. Nearby Workers who are available see it immediately on a live map-based interface and apply. The Client selects who they want. Both parties communicate directly. The work gets done.Payment is agreed and settled between them - cash, bank transfer, or however the two prefer - with no intermediary and no agency sitting in the middle of the money by default. Moreover because the money never passes through SWYFTEE, it lands the same day, often within minutes, with nothing to set up and at no cost.If a Worker would rather have that extra reassurance - usually the first time they work with a new face - for about the price of a coffee, they can choose Secured Payment. Before the work begins, the Client pays the money to an independent provider that holds the funds, never SWYFTEE itself. The funds are then released a few days after the work is completed.Setting it up is a one-off process the Worker can do whenever it suits them - the same quick identity check as opening an app-based bank account, and about as long as it takes to drink that coffee. After that it's a single tap. Fast, free and effortless is the default process; but secured payment in a couple of days is an alternative option if the Worker prefers.Compliance obligations are often the barrier to short notice work and these continue to place ever increasing burdens on Clients. By design, Swyftee works alongside both parties to reduce this friction to a minimum. Before work begins, the platform generates a memorandum of the role - a signed, timestamped record of the role terms, the Worker’s compliance profile at the moment of selection, and the documents sighted by the Client on arrival. Both parties sign it on their own devices before work starts and both parties are able to hold a permanent copy. For the Client, it is a comprehensive, defensible compliance record. For the Worker, it is documented confirmation of what was agreed, including importantly, the money. For both, it removes the ambiguity that has always made short-notice casual work feel informal. It turns a handshake into a record.

A Platform That LearnsThe first generation of SWYFTEE proved that the model works. The second generation goes considerably further. The rebuilt platform is designed to become more effective the more it is used. Activity on the platform continuously informs how it operates - reducing friction and improving visibility, producing better outcomes for both sides, and building a progressively deeper understanding of how supply and demand move in each market.Growth adds capability rather than simply adding volume.

Where This Is GoingIn mature form, the platform is designed so that the vast majority of roles are fulfilled rapidly - often within minutes. Idle worker availability becomes rare and short-lived. The platform monitors, adjusts, and improves continuously - operating seamlessly across multiple geographies simultaneously. The same platform and the same intelligence are designed to scale across new markets efficiently and without starting from scratch. Each new geography adds to the system's understanding. The platform becomes more effective across markets, not just larger. What begins as a straightforward visibility platform evolves into a highly efficient, compounding operating architecture - built on speed, simplicity and intelligent coordination.

The Road AheadSWYFTEE was originally built and proven live in the UK market in 2017. The strategic and technical blueprint governing its full evolution - from core platform through intelligent layer to adaptive capability and international expansion - is now complete. The platform is now in the active pre-development phase, preparing to commence its technical rebuild on modern architecture. Relaunch is the next milestone. The platform is also designed for organisations that need this capability without operating a public search. Enterprise clients - large hospitality groups, logistics operators, facilities management businesses - can license the Swyftee platform as their own internal short-notice staffing tool, branded to their requirements and integrated with their existing operations. The same platform. A different surface. What follows is the progression from base platform to intelligent network, city by city, market by market.
SWYFTEE does not need to promise the future. It only needs to be switched back on
